 Where To Shoot Colorado has many indoor and outdoor ranges listed. They list public and private ranges, along with semi-dispersed shooting areas. Always check their website and contact the range you want to visit to know what is expected.

 Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) has many ranges listed. Usually they do not list dispersed or semi-dispersed shooting areas located on USFS or BLM land. Always check their website and call to know what is expected.

 The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) manages the web's most comprehensive directory of shooting ranges. NSSF, the trade association for the firearms industry, updates frequently with range information in every state.

Outdoor shooting areas are closed by federal, county, and local officials for various reasons. Have a backup plan and an alternate range to visit.

Free Shooting Areas

Kelsey Creek NFSR 528G Shooting Area

 Pike National Forest small dispersed shooting area in Jefferson County four miles South of Buffalo Creek on the South Platte Ranger District is best suited for pistols, skeet, and rimfire rifles. Come prepared since there are no facilities or conveniences. Pack out all of your trash and leave absolutely no evidence of your visit.

Turkey Tracks Shooting Area

Pike National Forest largest dispersed shooting area near Westcreek in both Douglas and Teller Counties within the Pikes Peak Ranger District. There are 25 shooting stations up to 450 yards. There are no facilities or conveniences and trigger trash is becoming a major issue. Plan to pack out your trash and several more bags. Use equipment checklist to gear up properly for a great experience. 

Harris Park Shooting Area

Pike National Forest dispersed shooting area North of Bailey in the South Platte Ranger District. There are no facilities or conveniences and trigger trash is becoming an issue. Plan to pack out your trash and several more bags. Check the Park County website for fire bans and closures. High clearance 4x4/AWD truck or SUV recommended for access. Only the far Northwest area at NFSR 108.B is open to shooting. See map.

Summit County Shooting Range

Great high county facility located between Dillon and Keystone. The RSO Calendar not only shows when a volunteer NRA-certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) will be on duty, but also shows you when the range will be closed. Visit their website for information and Summit County web page for fire restrictions in place.

Chaffee County Public Shooting Range

Located between Salida and Buena Vista. Open during daylight hours.  You will love the steel targets from 200 out to 600 yards. Check website for restrictions and additional information. A valid Colorado hunting or fishing license is required for everyone 18 or older.

Baker Draw Public Shooting Range

Weld County facility is part of the Pawnee National Grasslands. Open seven days a week dawn to dusk or as otherwise posted. No automatic fire or simulated automatic fire. No clay pigeons allowed. Rifles and hand guns only. No shotguns. Check website for current information.

Byers Canyon Shooting Range

Hot Sulphur Springs State Wildlife Area in Grand County. Check website for additional information. A valid hunting or fishing license is required for everyone 18 or older.

Basalt Public Shooting Range

Managed by the Roaring Fork Valley Sportsman's Association the range is located at Lake Christine State Wildlife Area near Basalt. A valid hunting or fishing license is required for everyone 18 or older. Closed on Wednesdays. Check website for additional information. 

West Rifle Public Shooting Range

The range is operated by Colorado Parks & Wildlife near the Rifle Correctional Center in Garfield County. No scattergun facilities. Open during daylight hours. A valid hunting or fishing license is required for everyone 18 or older. Be sure to visit Lauren Boebert, US House of Representative 3rd congressional district, at Shooter's Grill.

Routt County (Hayden) Shooting Range

Range is operated by Colorado Parks & Wildlife three miles south of Hayden on Routt County Road 37 with accommodations for long gun, pistol and shotgun. Open seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

Lake County (Leadville) Public Shooting & Archery Range

Range is operated by Colorado Parks & Wildlife near the airport with accommodations for long gun, pistol and shotgun. Open seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

Two Elk Shooting Area

The Two Elk shooting area near Minturn has 4 shooting lanes separated by rail fencing. There is a picnic table and shooting table at each lane. The access road is open to vehicles from May 21 - November 22. Travel west on I-70 to exit 171 for Minturn, Leadville, and Hwy 24. Turn right and travel south 2.7 miles and into Minturn to Cemetery Bridge. Turn left, cross the bridge and tracks, then proceed south past the cemetery. Go right at the first fork and left at the second fork. Follow this somewhat rough dirt road about 1.8 miles to the shooting range on the right.

Park County Shooting Range (AKA Como)

Range is located one mile South of Highway 285 on Park County Road 15 (Elkhorn Road) near Como and is open to the public with a $10 per shooter day fee. Facility has 4 pistol ranges, 3 rifle ranges 300 to 600 yards with steal targets and covered shooting benches. Shotgun ranges include 2 skeet facilities with 5 shooting stations & dual clay pigeon launchers. Enclosed no flush restrooms available on site. Facility may close in winter due to snow accumulation. Check Colorado P&W for closure information. Facility is usually open when Park County is under fire restrictions.
 

Cameo Shooting and Education Complex

World class 2,000 acre competition and training full service facility on western slope near Palisade. Complex features include multiple ranges for rifle,​ shotgun, pistol, and archery with indoor classrooms, indoor range and Pro Shop. Visit their website for the latest information. Portions or all of the facility may be closed for competitions.

Family Shooting Center

Cherry Creek State Park's full service public facility in Aurora. Pass required to enter park along with range fees. Pro Shop carries all shooter needs with gun rentals available. Check website for pricing and hours.

Colorado Clays Shooting Park

Full service shooting facility near Brighton. Open to the public and specializes in accommodating both competitive and recreational shooters of all ages and abilities. Check website for pricing and hours.

Dragonman's Shooting Range

Full service shooting facility near Colorado Springs charging $12 per person and open Tues - Sun: 9:30am - 4pm. Open all major holiday including Thanksgiving and Christmas. Numerous fully automatic weapons available for rent. Check website for current information.

Camp Fickes Shooting Range

Camp Fickes is an old U.S. Army facility near Bailey managed by the Buffalo Creek Gun Club. Open to the general public on a day pass basis. There is no water, electricity, cell service, or shotgun shooting. No flush toilet facilities are available. You must go to website to make a reservation, complete forms, and pay fees. Range will be open to the general public every Saturday and Sunday 9AM till 4PM from Memorial Day weekend through the last weekend in October.

Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex

Colorado Springs area largest public facility is a partnership between the U.S. Army, El Paso County, the El Paso County Sheriff, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the U.S. Forest Service. The 400 acre site sits on Army land near Interstate 25 just off mile marker 132. The entrance is located just outside Fort Carson's Gate 20 security perimeter. Shooters using the range will not have to enter Fort Carson to use the range. Visit website for updates on fees and hours.

Republic Shooting Range

Full service range East of Pueblo near Avondale has everything. Pistol ranges and rifle ranges to 1,000 yards. Visit website for fees and restrictions.

Great Guns Sporting

Located in northern Colorado, east of Fort Collins and north of Greeley. They offer a variety of clay target games to challenge all levels of shooters. The target presentations simulate actual hunting situations. Open seven days a week 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Sporting clays course, five trap fields, two skeet fields, a five-stand layout, archery, rifle, and pistol ranges.

Ranges - Fees & Limited Public access

U.S. Olympic Shooting Center

Colorado Springs is host to the largest indoor shooting facility in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest in the world. The outdoor ranges at the International Shooting Park are at the edge of Fort Carson. Tours are available by contacting the U.S. Olympic Visitors Center.

Gold Camp Shooting Sports Center

 Cripple Creek area range run by the Teller County Shooting Society. Public shooting days are limited. Check website for calendar when range is open to the public. Public may use shooting range at a cost of $15 per shooter (17 and under $10).  

Pikes Peak Gun Club

 Public shooting days are limited and RSO must be available for non-members to shoot. Check website for fees and when range is open, and you must call to check if RSO is available to the public.

Boulder Rifle Club

 Public shooting days are limited. Cost is $20 per person and minors shoot free with a paying adult. Check website for fees and when range is open to public.

Estes Park Gun & Archery Club

Public Shooting Days are every Saturday. Check website for updates on fees and calendar when range is open to public.

Green Mill Sportsman's Club

Located outside of Erie with rifle (50, 100 and 200 yard), pistol, rimfire silhouette, shotgun and archery ranges. Visit website for fees, directions, restrictions, and public availability dates.

Clear Creek County Sportsmen Club

The Clear Creek County Sportsmen Club near Dumont was formed around 1960 for the purpose of promoting the shooting sports.  They promote the safe handling and use of firearms and offer a variety of recreational shooting opportunities.  They host IDPA and IPSC matches monthly.  Those matches are open to the public, subject to the rules of those organizations. Visit their website for upcoming events.

Gunnison Sportsmen’s Association Gun Club

Range is 2 miles west of Gunnison. Visit website for fees and public access dates.

Pawnee Sportsmens Center

Range is near Briggsdale in Weld County. Visit website for fees and public access dates.

Colorado Firearm Academy's Range

The range near Dacono has a 15ft back berm that drops to 10-12 feet on the sides and fully encompasses a 25-yard range. Open range nights starting in June. Go to website for information.

Gateway Canyons Gun Club

Southwest of Grande Junction is the Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa where you can experience a variety of shooting sports. The State of the art range is in a beautiful canyon setting. Pistol, rifle and skeet shooting available along with laser tag and archery. Steel target shooting gallery from 100 to 500 yards away. 

Colorado Rifle Club

The Colorado Rifle Club was founded in 1925. Facility has 7 different firing ranges on 2,565 acres located near Byers, CO. The club is private and is never open to the general public except where Match Directors allow non-members to participate in scheduled events.
